Arctic Blast

The Arctic Blast happening in PDX has outdated "I'm Dreaming of A White Christmas" song early, not to mention the chaos singing "Let It Snow" may cause. KATU News stated the winter storm as the worst since 1968, leading us to 19F. Under the limitations, I started shooting around the neighborhood from Ventura Park up to the Rocky Butte, got fired up taking some extra miles to the suspended Washington Park & Pittock Mansion area, then finally curious enough to check out Downtown and even the airport. Thanks to my tire chains, MAX and my beltpack! Here are some favorites from the 7-day coverage ...

Day 1

Day 2

Josh my Butte buddy. He has a good eye!

Day 3

Somewhere in Washington Park.

The last reachable point on the way to Pittock Mansion.

Day 4

A mix of ice and snow. Crunchy.

Downtown Waterfront.

Snow-plowing trucks dominating the airport. No flight again today.

Day 5

The snow pile blocking garages.

In front of Home Depot Mall 205 entrance door.

Side by side with my car.

Ventura Park revisited.

Digging a tunnel.

Day 6

Downtown at Columbia/9th.

Some good Christmas spirit left in the midst of the storm.

"Let me break the ice for you," my pal PUD said.

Some Christmas lights at the Peacock Lane.

Day 7

The perfect Christmas trees.

Mater the tow truck!

At Ron Tonkin Toyota.

Adi, I'm so glad you got some great shots of this man, I ended up leaving town for the holidays but was so bummed to miss out on so many unique photo opportunities. Hope you and your wife have a great Christmas!

Yeah... thanks! Oh well, I'm sure you'll get great shots from the trip anyway. We can only document the things around us :)
